Glyconutrients are exceptional
for maintaining, supporting and building a healthy
immune system. They present a range of nutrients absent
from our diets to assist in helping us feel our best.
In order to stay healthy our cells need to be given
the right nutrients, this is because all problems
start at a cellular level. Glyconutrients nourish
the body at a cellular level thereby boosting the
immune system. Glyconutrients include a mixture of
eight naturally occurring sugars known as saccharides,
which are found in plant carbohydrates.
These plant sugars are known
as glycoproteins and they enable the cells to communicate
with each other. Glucose and Galactose are two such
sugars and are often originate in the foods, which
we eat. However the other six sugars – Fucose,
Mannose, N-AcetylGlucosamine, N-AcetylNeraminic acid,
N-AcetylGalactosamine and Xylose are not so easily
obtained in our daily diet and therefore need to be
obtained from supplements.
By now you may be asking yourself
– well how does this work? The answer lies in
the fact that our body’s’ are a gathering
of billions of cells and it is imperative that they
work together. When we eat food or take a supplement
containing essential sugars, they attach themselves
to cell receptor sites situated on the exterior of
cell membranes. As these cells travel, they commune
by touching and passing on messages. Mothers are encouraged
to breastfeed their babies because breast milk provide
five of the essential saccharides. This provides the
child with a stronger immune system and healthier
start in life.
